ROARING FOR A CAUSE

Voices for Children appreciates your interest in becoming a part of our volunteer community!

VFC ROAR, which stands for Recruitment, Outreach & Advocacy Representatives, is a volunteer-match program for individuals seeking short-term projects.  It consists of a team of volunteers & community partners dedicated to helping Voices for Children CASA with community engagement, child abuse awareness/prevention, and related activities.

Although ROAR volunteers do not undergo the same training (28 hours in person) and some other requirements as our Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA volunteers, they will need to complete a Volunteer Interest Survey and attend a one-hour Information Session.

VFC ROAR offers community members short- and long-term volunteer opportunities.  ROAR volunteers track their time and provide feedback about their experience by using the VFC ROAR Experience & Time Tracker.

To help you get started, here are the top five (5) things to know about VFC:

  • Voices for Children (VFC), CASA is an organization of volunteers who provide court-ordered advocacy for children and families within the foster care system. Voices for Children serves Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, and Madison Counties.

  • This non-profit 5013c recruits, trains, and empowers community members to create and strengthen support networks around families in crisis for years to come.

  • VFC is a  member of The National CASA/GAL Association for Children and Texas CASA.

  • A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is appointed by a judge to ensure a child’s best interests are being met.  CASAs gather information, locate potential relative caregivers, advocate for the child's educational, medical and psychological needs, and make recommendations to the court for a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible.  In doing so, they help provide stability for the child in a time of uncertainty.

  • CASA and ROAR volunteers come from all walks of life; they are students, full-time employees, retirees, etc. What they have in common is they have a passion for strengthening families and keeping children safe and supported as they grow!  Community members may serve as both CASA and ROAR volunteers.

Now that you have key information, we look forward to providing you with a meaningful volunteer experience that matches your gifts and talents with our mission-driven opportunities.  Please complete this brief survey so we can begin the match.  Once you have completed the survey, we will contact you regarding your interest!
